He played so many pub gigs in the 1990s that he was awarded the title 'King of Live'. Next week, veteran Taiwanese rocker Wu Bai and his band, China Blue, will be returning to what they do best by rocking a pub in Kowloon.

The show is part of the promotional campaign for 38-year-old Wu's recently released studio recording, Innocent Years, his first Putonghua record in three years.

When he emerged in the early 1990s, Wu's rock music had an intense local flavour, making him one of the island's most influential rockers.

He first came to attention in 1992 when he provided the vocals for the soundtrack to the movie Dust of Angels, and later that year formed China Blue - comprising Zhu Jian-hui on bass, Yu Da-hao on keyboards and drummer Dean 'Dino' Zavolta - to back him up during live performances.
