There was no shortage of Hong Kong entries in the Phuket King's Cup yacht races at the weekend. The December event is quickly becoming a favourite for regional millionaire yacht owners. With Hong Kong developer Gulu Lalvani (near right) throwing lavish parties at his Royal Phuket Marina, it was a swanky weekend of fireworks, food, drinks and regatta.

According to sources who were enviously basking in the jet-set scene, there were more than 100 boats and a thousand participants and the big winner was Hong Kong's Toby O'Connell in a yacht called Dhevatara Drumstick. Another local resident, Neil Pryde, came second in Farr 52 Hi Fi. However, other local boatmen like Sam Chan, with his Ffree Fire, and Frank Pong (left) with his 25-metre Reichel Pugh Jelik were less lucky because they ... oh, we don't care really. Some of us don't even have a bathtub for our rubber duckie.
