What is it?
An essential oil, herbal extract and healing plant-based skincare range from Australia created by Salvatore Battaglia and Carolyn Stubbin. They believe beautiful skin and natural wellbeing should go hand in hand and we should care about what we put in our bodies, and what we apply to our skin. The range feels and smell wonderful. Perfect Potion, the founders say, is the result of more than 14 years of studying and honing their craft.
What's the plug?
Company representative Annie Rogers, in Hong Kong recently to launch the brand, says the founders select natural products from around the world and blend them to create 'sensual effects on the mind, body and soul'. They comply with the strict Therapeutic Goods Act licensed manufacturing processes to ensure quality. They include natural and, whenever possible, organic ingredients. The products do not contain petrochemicals, synthetic colourings or alcohol. Preservatives are in as few products as possible, and where used, are naturally derived. There is no testing on animals, or animal-derived products in their formulations, and to save the environment, they use ingredients that are sustainable and renewable; the packaging is recyclable. Perfect Potion blends natural hydrating essential oils such as almond and jojoba, Rogers says. The range is sold in Japan, Britain, Taiwan and New Zealand, and will soon be launched in the US and Canada.
What do the founders know about oils?
In 1986, Battaglia developed a fascination for essential oils and aromatherapy. Four years later, he left his engineering job to follow this passion. In 1995, Battaglia published The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy, and Stubbin, a cosmetic chemist, published Do it Yourself Pure Plant Skin Care in 1999. In 2001, Battaglia established the International Centre of Holistic Aromatherapy, a registered aromatherapy training organisation.
