An integrated sexual and reproductive health centre that offers comprehensive medical and counselling services opened in Tsuen Wan last week.

Located at the Nan Fung Centre near Tsuen Wan MTR station, the Family Planning Association (FPA) centre provides help for teenagers troubled by sexual health-related issues.

Counsellors and clinical staff at the centre provide visitors with information on contraception, pregnancy and sexual health.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food York Chow Yat-ngok said the centre would prove instrumental in promoting sexual health among young people. 'Young people may feel worried about the changes [they experience during] puberty. The centre will cater to their needs,' said Dr Chow.

The FPA hopes that the centre will help teens adopt a healthy attitude towards sex.

'Many teenagers don't know much about sexual health. Some of them may be too embarrassed to ask their parents and teachers. We hope that our centre will be a place for them to learn about sexual health,' said Christina Cheung Wai-yee, a senior FPA counsellor.
