Cocktails by the pool

Celebrities and socialites flocked to the Landmark Mandarin Oriental last month for a cocktail party to mark the opening of its new pool and to celebrate a belated new year.

The hotel's fifth-floor pool and terrace, MOcean, was transformed into a water world, with floating lotus flowers, giant seashells and mermaids. The 400 guests were invited to place candles on the water and make a wish. Carolyne Borel was on hand for tarot card readings.

Bernice Liu Bik-yee and actor Michael Wong Man-tak jammed into the night with Wong's band.

Party-goers included Christy Chung, Amanda Strang, Cissy and Irene Wang, Yolanda Choy Yee-lin, Wendy Hotung, Yumiko Kuok, Christina Hellmann, Wendy Gan and Cecilia Yip Tung.
