Hong Kong may be a financial hub but Sanya in Hainan is cementing its place for pageants. The resort town hosted the Miss World finals for three straight years to 2005 and the 2006 World's Strongest Man Contest. Now, bring on the Mr World finals. It has just been announced that 80 slabs of international beefcake will be strutting their pecs in the tropical paradise for three weeks in March.
We're told the guys will be judged on strength of character, stamina and determination to succeed as much as physical appearance, style and presentation. Besides physical tests, including kung fu, press-ups, sit-ups and a 2km run through a forest, they'll have to endure a cocktail-shaking challenge and show their prowess in a Chinese cooking challenge. What? No questions in the swimwear section for the muscular dudes about how they will work towards world peace?
