Bored with the unoriginal and mass-produced trainers on the market, 14 young artists from Hong Kong and the mainland have designed a collection of trendy sneakers.
The artists took part in the Converse Star-studded Art Camp 2007, which was organised by sportswear company Converse. The camp allowed budding local designers and graffiti artists from the mainland to exchange creative ideas.
Famous local artist Kelvin Tsang was invited to host workshops at the camp.
Under Tsang's guidance, the 14 young artists worked in pairs to transform white sneakers into designer footwear.
The seven mainland participants, all winners of graffiti competitions, came from cities across the mainland, including Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu .
The local designers said working with them was an enriching experience.
Gloria Tung collaborated with a 19-year-old artist from Chengdu. Gloria admired her mainland partner's bold designs and keen observation.
