A recent study revealed there are more millionaire women than men in Hong Kong. Thus, there should be no shortage of candidates for the Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year Award 2007. The champagne house created its female business leader prize in 1972 to pay tribute to the brand's founder, Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, who launched the company as a widow at the age of 27. But the award was only introduced here in 2004. Since then, winners have included CLP's managing director, Betty Yuen So Siu-mei, and STAR chief executive Michelle Guthrie.

What's new this year is that evaluating criteria will include 'corporate social responsibility' - meaning they're looking for company heads who are doing well and doing good. The nomination process has begun. This award is open to any Hong Kong-based businesswomen, either an individual entrepreneur or a senior employee. Forms can be downloaded from www.veuve-clicquot.com/hongkong or call 2894 6296. The deadline is March 31. What better way to win some points with your female boss this new year.
