Bonpoint, maker of fancy baby and children's wear, has finally arrived in Hong Kong. Mothers not daunted by expensive clothes their kid will throw up all over and quickly outgrow will love the French label's elegant, prissy garb. They have already been launched in Shanghai.
'Shanghai, and China in general, is a long-term project, whereas Hong Kong consumers possess a higher level of maturity and taste for refined children's wear,' said CEO Richard Alibert. 'It just happened that Shanghai had the perfect location available before here.'
Alibert compared his brand to another French designer label just around the corner in the Prince's Building. 'We are the Chanel of children's clothing.' He added that for some petite women, Bonpoint is not necessarily just children's clothes. 'In France, we have customers come in to our stores to buy our junior girl line outfits (age 13-16) for themselves, so I guess there is a demand for that sort of 'mother and child' look.'
