The vocal cords of veteran singers (above, from left) Frances Yip, Anita Sarawak, Elisa Chan Kit-ling, and Maria Cordero will be getting another workout in Hong Kong this month. And after their shows in the city, the four singers will head to Thailand and Singapore.
The quartet will begin their show with songs from musicals such as Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera and Evita, and also My Fair Lady and Fame. Chan says another highlight will be a Dreamgirls-like session in which the four perform Motown standards.
Each vocalist will also sing solo. Yip, the voice behind the theme to TV drama Shanghai Tan, will perform her hits and songs from television; Cordero will bring Indian elements into her set, and Sarawak, who spent almost 20 years performing in Las Vegas, will sing in English and Putonghua.
Chan will sing some of her old numbers and a few tracks from her recently released album, A Gleam of Thought, her first studio recording since her 1994 album Impossible, full of smooth jazz numbers performed by Ted Lo and Eugene Pao.
