A trip to the mainland helped a group of students broaden their horizons and learn how the authorities implement conservation policies.
Twenty young environmental ambassadors from Hong Kong visited Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou for conservation research in April.
During a sharing session last month, the students said they learned valuable lessons about environmental protection.
Led by Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works Sarah Liao, the delegation visited environmental research centres, nature reserves and a school during their six-day trip.
Jointly organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Environmental Protection Department and the Education and Manpower Bureau, the trip was aimed at raising awareness of environmental protection among students.
One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to the Fu and Nan rivers in Chengdu. The rivers, which used to be polluted and stinking waterways, have been restored to perfect condition following water purification work in the area.
