Students from Chinese International School organised a fashion show last week to raise money for poor children in Nepal.

It was held on a makeshift runway in the school gymnasium. Young models paraded self-made and sponsored clothing in front of students and teachers.

The school set up a committee comprising 20 students to prepare for the show.

The young organisers made all the arrangements, from contacting sponsors and designing clothes to liaising with the media to promote the event.

'I was responsible for media liaison. I called Chinese and English publications and invited them to come to the show,' said Tricia Chan, 16.

'Among the many tasks I was assigned, writing the press release was the most daunting. I had to come up with various angles to sell the event, while including all the details about the show in the article.'

The Year 11 student said she enjoyed the challenge.
