Director Fruit Chan Kuo is seriously considering making his first English-language film. He has been approached by overseas producers to do a remake of an early movie by Japanese horror king Hideo Nakata. Before his spooky hit The Ring, Nakata created a 1996 haunted tale called Don't Look Up about a director whose set is invaded by a female ghost. Chan was approached after the producers were impressed by his 2004 chilling feature, Dumplings.

'I haven't seen many of Nakata's films but I have seen The Ring and I like it,' Chan said. Although media sources claim he has already said yes, Chan begged to differ. 'I haven't decided if I will take on the project yet ... They said they liked Dumplings and hope that I can shoot this film in the same style. There are still many variables like finding the right cast. At worst, we won't make the film if we can't find the right people to be in it.'

Chan is still looking for the right actor to play a young Bruce Lee in his biopic of the kung fu legend tentatively titled Kowloon City. 'I will consider any offers that come to me and I don't want to be categorised as a director of just one type of film.'
