Josie Ho Chiu-yee was overjoyed to be able to finish her raucous dinner-time music performance on a Causeway Bay balcony on Tuesday. The occasion was for sportswear Quiksilver's new Pak Sha Road shop, and the rocker did her ear-splitting best to bring noise to the opening celebration. Hollering 'have you had you dinner yet?' in an ironic tone to the mixed neighbourhood of ground-floor shops and upstairs residences, Ho then launched into a loud and boisterous four-song set - and got away with it.

'I am glad we managed to finish all four songs without anyone throwing their television at us,' she joked. 'At the afternoon rehearsal, I got through only one song before the police came and we had to stop.'

Despite the cramped space and oblivious audience, Ho said she still enjoyed the atmosphere of playing live in the open. 'I have always dreamed about performing at an upstairs open-air venue to a street audience below. It's like the time the band Audioslave, which I really like, played on the marquee of the David Letterman Show. I like the way they often go to different places and bring their music to different audiences.'

Well, if Ho ever reached Audioslave's decibel levels, I'd say the riot squad would be called in.
