Moments of musical magic for charity

We'd be remiss if we didn't tell musical theatre fans about performances tonight and tomorrow at the Concert Hall of the Cultural Centre. The Musical Moments charity concerts are returning this year for Lifeline Express, the charity that performs free cataract operations in poor remote areas of the mainland.

They feature international and local performers with Broadway, West End and opera backgrounds, including producer David Quah, Marsha Yuan Chi-wai, Jovita Leung and Hsu Li-tong Hsu. Special guest is Joanna Ampil, currently playing Fantine (pictured) in Les Miserables in the West End. The singers will be backed up by the Songsingers Choir and the strings will be provided by Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra. Yes, these will be physician musicians! Tickets are HK$680, HK$520, HK$380, HK$250 and HK$120 and available through Urbtix, 2111-5999. Shows start at 8pm.
