Lucky Brand Jeans has finally made it to Hong Kong along with its two former hippie founders, Barry Perlman and Gene Montesano. The two opened their Elements shop on Monday complete with a dragon dance and lai see for friends and associates at the launch. 'I love these traditions,' Perlman said. Then, in a nod to their label's Americana appeal and association with music, owners and guests moved over to a nearby open area of the mall where an entire fake coffee bar and stage was built with models pretending to be lounging about and Soler was performing a mini acoustic set. However, the stage might be too real as one publicist suggested. 'This couple came over and asked if they could make a reservation.' No doubt the two irreverent Lucky creators would have appreciated the humour. A trait of their merchandise is placing the phrase 'Lucky you' behind the zipper fly. 'We're just doing what we love,' the music fanatic Perlman said, between shots of tequila in their cordoned section of the faux coffee bar. 'This is all I know and all I can do. We still look at all the designs and inspect every piece of clothing in our name.'
