TVB stars escape city chill for award show in Malaysia
What can a bunch of TVB actors do to escape the current cold spell? How about flying down to Kuala Lumpur for a television award show.
That's what a sizable contingent of actors and actresses did over the weekend for a Malaysian broadcaster that airs all the local Cantonese dramas. Included in the group were Bosco Wong Chung-chak, Raymond Lam Fung, Charmaine Sheh Si-man and Sonija Kwok Sin-lei.
The big winners proved to be Gigi Lai Chi and Roger Kwok Chun-on, who won television queen and king of the year for roles they played in 2006 - it appears the Malaysian channel is a little behind. Too bad there wasn't a dumb traveller prize because Lam would have won hands down. He forgot to take his passport to the airport and had to return home, retrieve it and catch a later flight.
For actress Angela Tong Ying-ying (pictured), it was a timely escape after she was slapped in the face by a stranger on a Wan Chai street in broad daylight on January 20 between shooting scenes for a new drama.
We are happy to report that Tong is OK and she even joked about the incident onstage in Kuala Lumpur.
