A new television series features exciting aerial battles that will keep young viewers on the edge of their seats.
Launched by The History Channel, the 11-episode Dogfights revolves around plans drawn up by wartime air force commanders and acts of bravery under the most difficult conditions.
Using state-of-the-art computer animation, the programme delivers gritty re-enactments of airborne battle scenes and hair-raising cockpit experiences.
It features aerial combat ranging from the attacks against Nazi battleships during the second world war to the confrontation between Americans and North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War.
One of the episodes, Flying Tigers, is a celebration of the triumph of human spirit and endurance. It provides a thrilling account of a courageous band of American mercenaries who defy all the odds to defeat the Japanese soon after the Pearl Harbour attack. Led by ace pilots Tex Hill and John Alison, the Flying Tigers were able to challenge the overwhelming might of the Japanese Air Force and hamper their rapid advance in a fight to the death over Chinese territory.
Gripping dogfights between American and communist pilots during the Vietnam War are also featured in the series.
