Organised by the Hong Kong College of Technology, the workshops began in January and ended last month.

A total of 130 students from 13 secondary schools enrolled in the programme conducted by experienced filmmakers.

It comprised theory and practical sessions, and allowed the participants to learn movie-making skills and get a better understanding of the local film industry.

Cheuk-wai was one of six students from CCC Fung Leung Kit Memorial Secondary School who completed the course.

Guided by documentary filmmaker Leung Chi-kai, the Form Six student, 20, grabbed the opportunity to make his first-ever video, My Life. 'I never thought that movie-making can be so interesting. It requires much more skills and creativity than photography,' said Cheuk-wai.

'Taking pictures is one-dimensional. In contrast, making videos is much more complicated since you have to take care of a lot of things like lighting, angle, narration and subtitles.'
