Animated film about to get on the Storm Riders merry-go-round

Hot on the heels of last week's news about the Pang brothers making a sequel to the Storm Riders movie, there's now a report that an animated version of the franchise is also being produced from Andrew Lau Wai-keung's comic book-based hit of 10 years ago. A trailer for the animated feature turned up over the weekend on cult movie blog twitch.com. At the end of the three-minute-plus clip are credits that suggest the animated film, tentatively called Storm Riders - Clash of the Evils, will be directed by Hongkonger Dante Lam Chiu-yin (The Twins Effect) and is a collaborative production between mainland animator Puzzle Animation Studio and Shanghai Media Group. The producers are credited as Li Ruigang and Chin Yiu-tong. Otherwise, there's precious little information offered except that it will be based on writer Ma Wing-sing's original comic story and will be released this year.
