Elton John last performed in Hong Kong in 2004 after a previous planned show around 1997 was apparently scuttled because residents near Hong Kong Stadium complained that he would be too noisy. Well, he is now confirmed to play indoors at the AsiaWorld-Arena on May 20 as part of his Rocket Man tour, which started last year to celebrate his 60th birthday. He's now 61 and the tour is finally reaching Asia. He will be playing all the old hits, including Your Song, Crocodile Rock, Daniel, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Candle in the Wind and more.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday. To feed John's Versace habit, they haven't been set at bargain basement prices. Choose between HK$480, HK$580, HK$880, HK$1,280 and HK$1,680 at HK Ticketing and Tom Lee Music outlets. The hotline is 3128 8288.

Apparently, if you are a member of the concierge service Quintessentially, you can buy tickets now and can get VIP tickets at HK$2,600 each that get you up close and personal with John. E-mail: [email protected] for details.
