Pacific Place will be a lot more colourful now that Emilio Pucci has opened its first local shop there. The fashion house, famous for its bright, colourful prints, celebrated its launch in style with a bash and a preview of the autumn collection at Watermark on Thursday night.
Guests were greeted by a fab display showing four vintage Pucci gowns worn by Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman, Liz Hurley and Kylie Minogue. This proved to be a fashion appetiser for a night where the clothes - on stage and worn by the socialites - could collectively drown out the DJ's blaring music.
Celebrity guest Li Bingbing, in a blue and black number, had one of the more subtle Pucci gowns out of respect for the Sichuan earthquake victims.
Also in town was the late Emilio's daughter, Laudomia Pucci (left, with actress Li Bingbing), now the image director of the brand, who proudly defended the label's reputation. 'It's not for everybody but those who love it really appreciate the style,' Pucci said. 'There is a misconception that Pucci is only prints but we have solid-colour pieces too. If your DNA is strong then you can evolve from it.'
