If you're paying attention to all those Olympic moments and highlights clips airing on TV for, oh, about three years now, then you should recognise the name Olga Korbut. She was the cheerful Soviet-era Russian gymnast who captured three golds and a silver at the Munich Games in 1972, and had a move on the balanced beam named after her - the Korbut Flip is a difficult back somersault.
To build local excitement for the Beijing Games - as if we really need it - Korbut has been invited to Hong Kong. The Belarussian who now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, will be here from tomorrow until July 6, at Metro City in Tseung Kwan O and Ma On Shan's Sunshine City mall. If you're a budding gymnast, you can even win a chance to be taught personally by Korbut if you buy more than HK$200 worth of stuff at Metro City this Saturday and Sunday.
