Five-octave, R&B singer with funky dreadlocks - more than a passing fado
In the music world, there are two popular singers who go by the same stage name, Misia. One is the diva who performs Portuguese fado (for those who don't know, fado is a genre of singing, usually with melancholy themes, that goes back nearly 200 years). The other is a big-voiced soul chanteuse from Japan.
For those who enjoy the effervescent delight of J-pop, an R&B singer from Fukuoka with a five-octave range, and a set of crazy dreadlocks, will be playing her first Hong Kong concert on October 4 at the AsiaWorld-Arena.
This will be Misia's - whose real name is Misaki Ito - first tour across Asia since breaking out in 1998 with the album Mother Father Brother Sister.
Tickets, priced at HK$790, HK$490 and HK$290, will be available via HK Ticketing and Tom Lee outlets from Saturday.
