The MasterCard Luxury Week promised special guests at events, and last Thursday's Marc Jacobs and Marc By Marc Jacobs show featured an odd pair. For the entertainment press, the statuesque current reigning Miss World from China, Zhang Zilin (above), had the flashbulbs going crazy, while writers peppered her with queries about a rumoured relationship with Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang , whom she frequently blogged about on her personal website. It turns out her predilection for the injured track star is because she used to be a hurdler in school. 'What I wrote on my blog was just from my observation as a fan,' Zhang said. 'I didn't expect the amount of gossip and media interest it generated. I don't know Liu personally. But I wouldn't say there's no chance of Liu and me being together some day. I leave that to fate.'

For fashion writers, the most unusual guest of the week had to be flamboyant Filipino fashion blogger Bryanboy (above). The gay style diarist has built a cult following online. Among his fans is a certain Louis Vuitton employee named Marc Jacobs, who even named a handbag - the BB ostrich bag - in his honour.

'A lot of people were slagging Marc for his association with Louis Vuitton, so I did this video that kind of said, 'Leave Marc alone'. Then, he e-mailed me one day. I thought it was a hoax ... but he left a number and said, 'No, it's really me'.'
