Fancl faces staff head on to achieve quality

The beauty and cosmetic retail market is a booming but ever-changing industry where companies adopt different strategies to stand out in the highly competitive business environment.

To stay ahead in the Greater China market, Fantastic Natural Cosmetics Limited (Fancl) has built a culture of continuous improvement and strong leadership in the company.

'It's the mission of our company that we want everything to be very meticulous, with excellent quality and innovation. To achieve this, every department and function has to follow our core values,' human resources director Noel Kiu Wai-kei said.

The Japanese brand introduced to Hong Kong in 1996 has grown quickly. Fancl opened another shop last month to bring the total to 32 outlets in Hong Kong and Macau. The company opened its first store in the mainland in 2004.

'We've been expanding very fast so we need to further strengthen our management, organisation structure and staff training,' she said.

A comprehensive orientation programme has been developed to ensure all staff understand and follow the core values and culture of the company. The programme features the background, organisation structure, product knowledge, service standards, company image, presentation and interpersonal skills.
