About 1,000 students and teachers from Canadian International School yesterday pledged to combat poverty in a charity campaign. The school was the first in Hong Kong to sign up for Stand Up, an initiative launched by the UN Millennium Campaign and Global Call to Action Against Poverty. Until next Monday, Stand Up participants will make pledges in their respective countries in support of poverty elimination. Students gathered in the playground of the Aberdeen campus and read out an anti-poverty declaration with the aim of setting a world record for collective action against poverty.
