Even if you don't like rugby, you'll probably get a kick out of the plucky little promotional tool the Bledisloe Cup has had rolling around town the last few days. To get the ball rolling (so to speak) on the upcoming Aussies-versus-Kiwis challenge at Hong Kong Stadium on November 1, sponsor ANZ has customised a car with an oversized rugby ball that looks as if it has crushed its roof in.
The vehicle will continue to crawl around the city for the next week visiting various locations. We hope the altered BMW 325 still meets all safety and road standards, as the ball structure on top is made of fibreglass with a steel frame inside. Together with the car, the installation apparently weighs more than 1,600kg. If you miss seeing it around the city, it will be parked inside the main concourse of the stadium on game day.
Presumably, sports fans will be more interested in the 15-a-side match, as this will be the first time New Zealand's All Blacks and Australia's Wallabies have faced off in Asia and the first time the Bledisloe Cup will have been contested at a neutral venue in its 75 years.
If you like collectibles, then you should also be on the lookout for other sponsors of the rugby match giving away mini rugby balls to pedestrians around the city.
