Number plate '1234' sells for HK$360,000

The number plate '1234' yesterday fetched HK$360,000, the highest price of the day at a Transport Department auction at the Convention and Exhibition Centre. The plate '290' was the second most expensive, selling for HK$175,000. Some 280 plates were up for sale, raising HK$2,671,000, but more than 30 failed to reach the reserve price. At a similar auction last week, the plate '672' sold for HK$130,000, which was below expectations.
