Jackie Chan finds a way to look good for a good cause
You can never accuse Jackie Chan of being lazy. Last Friday, the star flew all the way home from New Mexico, where he's been shooting a movie, to attend an event for his charity. Just hours after landing, the Hong Kong icon put his promotional face on for luxury house Hermes, which has chosen his Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation to be the beneficiary of a limited-edition Les Tigreaux printed scarf. The press conference, held at the label's soon-to-open shop at 5 Canton Road, revealed that only 400 tiger scarves are available here and in Macau.
'They look fun and playful and a little naughty, just like me. I'm a boy at heart, after all,' Chan said of the scarves. He also humbly revealed that his own design for the charity neckerchief was politely declined by Hermes, which chose to use artist Robert Dallet's illustration instead.
'I did have a design in mind but artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas didn't like it.' Chan said. 'Oh well, I don't mind. I mean, they're the experts, right? All I'm really good at is making movies.'
His new film is an action-comedy called The Spy Next Door. Although it's a children's film, Chan continues to pile up stunt accidents for those post-credit bloopers. Apparently, before the press conference, Chan visited his dentist to deal with the result of an on-set accident.
