One of the city's leading wine educators has been selected to go back to school, sort of. Rebecca Leung, who has been writing about and teaching wine appreciation at the city's International Wine Centre, has just won a place in the inaugural Landmark Australia Tutorial tour. She will join 11 other oenologists in experiencing the industry in Australia.

The not-too-shabby field trip will take place in the first week of June and comprises a series of master classes by some of the top wine experts Down Under, charting the development of fine wine in the country. What do you suppose the homework will consist of, mate? 'I hope to taste the genuine expression and quality of top Australian wines from the experts, and will convey such experience and knowledge to the city's wine drinkers, especially the newer generation who are eager to learn,' Leung said.

It seems Australia is the second-largest exporter of wine into the city. No wonder a local person was accepted to the programme's first group. Organisers plan to make it an annual event, so if you're a connoisseur, you can try to get yourself a future scholarship through the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation.
