The recession must be really bad. Normally, Carina Lau Ka-ling (below left) would be an ambassador only for upscale watches and luxury fashion boutiques but on Tuesday she was willing to lend her glamour to a new local undergarment brand's shop opening.

According to founder and designer, Pat Ma Bing-wah (below right), her BodiBra promises to lengthen the spine, straighten your back, improve blood circulation, ease tension in the shoulders and even flatten your stomach. 'We guarantee that every woman who wears a BodiBra will have a cleavage, no matter how small her breasts are,' Ma claimed. It sounds even better than those electric pulse massaging undies they sell on ATV.

The opening ceremony itself was kitschy fun. Instead of a backboard, guests were invited to sign their names on the torso of a half-naked male model. According to Ma, most women simply buy wrong-sized bras. To make the point, she recruited a pair of female twin models to show the difference her bra and a wrong-sized one makes. Although the two models had T-shirts on, we have no doubt the male photographers were paying very close attention.

Lau said: 'Well, after wearing it for the past month and a half, my back has straightened and my posture's so much better.'
