Nathan's in Coney Island, Brooklyn, might be home to the world's most famous hot-dog eating contest. But starting tomorrow, the Big Dog in Lan Kwai Fong will be the site of the newest frankfurter throw-down. The popular hot-dog stand will be holding heats to determine the contestants for its top-dog champion eater contest. Everyone is welcome to try out. Head over any Friday or Saturday between 9pm and 10pm, fill out a form, and hand over HK$30 for your two 'regulation-size' New York-style beef hot dogs. A staff member will score your time, and the holders of the best 16 times will move on to the semi-final on March 13 where they'll have to down 10 dogs as fast as humanly possible. The four fastest will then battle for the championship on March 20 where they will go head-to-head, stomach-to-stomach and eat as many hot dogs as they can within 5 minutes. The winner gets a champion's belt, HK$2,000 worth of food vouchers for Duke's Group outlets and be immortalised in the Big Dog Hall of Fame with their image displayed in-store for a month. There's an achievement to make your parents proud of you. The Big Dog is at 17-19 D'Aguilar Street. The qualification trials end on March 7.
