Kim Robinson may not be the most famous stylist in his own salon any more. You could argue that the title now belongs to Lorena Severi. The Italian native recently joined his staff after having lived and worked in South America, Paris, Switzerland and Belgium, where she won a World Champion of Hair Design award. ('Just luck,' Severi said.) Her past celebrity clients include actresses Cate Blanchett, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Liz Hurley, and Carla Bruni, wife of the French president, but she recently sold her eponymous chain of Australian salons to move to Hong Kong to be with her husband. After a few months of the tai-tai lifestyle, she was so bored she walked into Robinson's Chater House salon and asked for a job. 'I started two days a week and now I'm up to five days,' the Venetian said. 'I think Kim is a beautiful person because, at my age, it is not easy to walk in and ask for a job. He didn't ask me too many questions, didn't see my resume, but just gave me a very good welcome, which I really appreciated.' Now that word about her skills is getting out, she's also pleasantly surprised that local women are quite open to taking tonsorial risks. 'What I see is the women want to change and they want something different. Everyone is very chic ... I need to learn more of the language, but Cantonese is hard. But I promise to do my best.'
