He's big in Bollywood and now he's big at Madame Tussauds

There's an unlikely new attraction at The Peak's Madame Tussauds. The tourist destination has borrowed from its London museum one of the biggest movie stars in the world. For the next four months, Amitabh Bachchan will be residing in Hong Kong next to the wax figures of Jackie Chan, David Beckham and Johnny Depp. If you're not familiar with Bollywood cinema, then you might be asking Amitabh who? But Indian movie fans will recognise him as the country's biggest star for the past 40 years, having seen him in more than 100 films. If you've seen Slumdog Millionaire, Bachchan is the star who (off screen) lands his helicopter next to the slum.

'Hong Kong is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Indian tourists,' general manager Bret Pidgeon said. 'There is a growing demand for us to feature Indian film stars. Bachchan's entry here is part of our effort to enhance the guest experience for our Indian visitors.'

Cool. Can we next expect Kamal Haasan and Shabana Azmi figures too? What, you've not heard of them either? Bachchan's likeness will be at the attraction until August 9.
