Fashion darlings hit the highs and lows of a model's world
The new model du jour in Hong Kong seems to be Bonnie Chen Bige (far right). The mainland native has become the new mainstay at most fashion and beauty events, including Thursday afternoon's opening of a Parfums Christian Dior boutique at the Telford Plaza. Chen is already known for her mouth - that is, she's not afraid to speak her mind. Recently, she dismissed the local media's prying personal questions - once they linked her romantically with Richard Li Tzar-kai - by declaring she has no interest in marrying someone from a rich family. When reporters on Thursday prodded further about other Hong Kong men who might attract her, the 1.79-metre-tall Chen snapped: 'None, they aren't tall enough. My mum is taller than me and my dad is even taller. I am actually the shortest person in my entire family. If my mum could find someone taller than her to be her husband, I think I can too. I have dated guys who are shorter than me before but it didn't feel comfortable.'
Meanwhile, fellow model Ana Rivera (far left) had more pressing concerns than picking up a man with whom she can see eye to eye. Specifically, she's worried about picking up germs. 'Models travel around all the time and you never know who you will meet and if the person will be carrying the virus,' Rivera said in reference to swine flu. 'I was told that models will have to wear a face mask during [this summer's] Hong Kong Fashion Week.' Who knew air kisses would be hazardous to your health.
