Man dies from superbug infection

The Centre for Health Protection confirmed the death of a man from the superbug, community-acquired MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), the first death this year. The man, 42, saw a doctor on July 3 with a fever, cough and chest pain, and was admitted to Ruttonjee Hospital on July 8 with pneumonia. His condition deteriorated and he died on Friday. There have been 167 cases of the infection this year.
