The fashion press got a preview not just of Karl Lagerfeld's new Chanel Coco Cocoon handbag collection on Friday. The sneak peek included the yet-to-open Swire boutique hotel, The Upper House at Queensway, which was serviced apartments in its previous incarnation. Finding the entrance proved an adventure, with construction boarding on its exterior next to the JW Marriott.
While some writers were going cuckoo for Coco's puffy sports totes spread out in the inn's penthouse Sky Lounge with two lanky models (pictured), other scribes checked out the floor's other destination, Cafe Gray Deluxe, where the star chef Gray Kunz was inspecting every canap? coming out. The restaurant and hotel won't officially open until October 2, but interior designer Andre Fu was already walking around like a proud father, highlighting his numerous touches - including a hollowed-out steeple in the middle of the structure.
'There are a lot of hidden, private areas that people can discover for themselves. There's also no reception or concierge desk. People can check in on an iPod,' Fu said.
