It might have been overlooked at the recent Tokyo and Pusan film festivals, but Alan Mak Siu-fai's Overheard will be heard loud and clear at Toronto's other big movie event, the Reel Asian International Film Festival. The Hong Kong thriller, which was co-directed by screenwriter Felix Chong Man-keung and stars Sean Lau Ching-wan, Daniel Wu Yin-cho and Louis Koo Tin-lok, will be the opening film at the 13th edition of the country's biggest Asian film festival on November 11.

It probably helped that its international programmer is Raymond Phathanavirangoon, who until last year was a Hong Kong resident and film industry veteran.
