So what was the buzz in 2009? According to search engine Yahoo, the most buzzed-up person in Hong Kong this year was Isabella Leong Lok-sze. Apparently, the young actress, through her break from the Emperor Entertainment Group and having Richard Li Tzar-kai's son, was the most searched person in 2009, with interest in her increasing fivefold from the previous year.
Leong even beat out lang mo (pseudo-model) Chrissie Chau Sau-na (pictured), although the popular nymph did score the Yahoo award for Entertainment News Icon of the year and she was the most searched image of the year. The website hosted an event on Monday night at the Convention and Exhibition Centre to hand out awards for a variety of such, um, distinctions. It also released some online statistics on their searchers.
Three of the top 10 'news' stories of the year were entertainment-related. Michael Jackson's death was the third-biggest story online in Hong Kong. The arrests of local singers Jill Vidal and Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu for drugs in Japan came in seventh, while Andy Lau tak-wah admitting he is married was the eighth-most-searched story. 'Long Hair' Leung Kwok-hung beat fellow League of Social Democrats member Wong Yuk-man for most searched politician.
