Black Eyed Peas rapper Taboo (Jaime Luis Gomez) made a surprise visit to Hong Kong on Tuesday night. Apparently, he's joined the list of hip hop guys with their own line of sneakers. Collaborating with New York footwear brand Jump, he f?ted his Taboo X Jump shoe with a VIP bash at Roxie, a club on Ice House Street. It seems the rapper is an avid sneaker head with a dedicated shoe room in his house, but growing up, it was a different story - he couldn't afford a pair of Air Jordans. He has no such worries now and when the shoe company approached him to design a shoe, Taboo jumped at the opportunity. The result is a blinged-out, high-top sneaker in gold leather that looks eerily similar to Jordans. 'I wanted to create something that gives me freedom, that allows me to express myself,' Taboo boasted. 'So I made these sexy ass shoes that will make people want to dance.' His visit lasted less than 24 hours and he is making similar promotional quick stops in mainland cities and Japan before rejoining the Peas on their world tour. 'I've got to get back to perform with the band,' he said. 'They're very supportive, but they're waiting.' His shoes are supposed to be on sale in D-Mop soon.
