Teen killed on slope at Korean ski resort
A 14-year-old boy on the second day of a family holiday in South Korea has been killed in a skiing accident.
Joshua Chan Sau-bok, of Mei Foo, is believed to have crashed head-on into a railing at the High One ski resort near Seoul on Wednesday.
He and his parents had been on a five-day tour to the South Korean capital which included a day at the resort, said a spokeswoman for the tour's organiser, Wing On Travel.
Company general manager Jo Jo Chan Shuk-fong said it had learned from his parents that Joshua had some skiing skills and was not on a slope for beginners with the other six members of the tour group and their guide when the accident occurred. His parents were elsewhere in the resort.
Chan said: 'His head hit a railing and he sustained a severe head injury. It is believed he died of that injury.'
The family's insurers had been informed of the incident, and a Wing On manager in Korea was helping the boy's parents, she said. The accident had not affected the tour, which was continuing.
Joshua was a Form Three pupil at Queen's College in Causeway Bay.
