A yoga school that has been the subject of growing complaints has suddenly closed down, shocking members who had prepaid more than HK$10,000 each in fees.

Notices stuck outside Yoga Yoga International in Causeway Bay yesterday said it had ceased operating because of financial difficulties and would soon be placed in voluntary liquidation.

The school opened in 14,000 square feet of premises in the World Trade Centre in 2008. Another branch was to due to open in Tsuen Wan in October but never did.

Members have been complaining to the media that they paid for courses at the non-existent Tsuen Wan branch.

The notices did not say how members could get their fees back, but said they could consider joining another club, Planet Yoga, which would offer them 'special plans'. They were told to collect any personal items in lockers today.

Rebecca Leung, in her 30s, said she paid HK$10,388 for a 30-month membership at the non-existent Tsuen Wan branch in September but was only given approval to use the Causeway Bay branch last week.
