Singer-actor Lawrence Chou Tsun-wai may only have a small role in Dream Home, the new slasher film about a frustrated flat buyer gone berserk, but he reckons it's a major step in his growth as an actor.

Chou (left) has his first nude scene in the thriller, as a despicable young man who is killed by lead character Josie Ho Chiu-yee during a sex scene. Chou said he decided to take the role partly because of his faith in director Pang Ho-cheung and his friendship with Ho, who is also the producer. He also wanted to challenge himself as an actor.

'[When the offer came] I'd been appearing in films for 10 years but hadn't quite established myself as a actor since I began my career in show business as a singer,' said the 31-year old.

'I was turning 30 as we were filming last April, and I regarded my part in the movie as a rite of passage as an actor.'

Having recently completed shooting in a film to mark the 140th anniversary of the Tung Wah Hospital, Chou said he planned to focus more on movies in future. 'I hope after Dream Home, I can further consolidate my acting career.'
