1-MIN READ1-MIN
A 47-year-old Chinese national was arrested in Vancouver for running brothels that were staffed by 10 women from Hong Kong who had been forced to work as sex slaves, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. Michael Li Jian-feng of Burnaby, British Columbia, was accused of living off the earnings of prostitution and faces four counts of keeping a common bawdy house. Police said he was making up to C$40,000 (about HK$310,000) a week from the women. The arrest came after a two-year investigation by the police force into human trafficking.
