Mainland actor Chen Kun left the Hundred Flowers Awards last week with the best actor award, having surprised everyone with the revelation that he was a father.
After receiving the award, the 34-year-old actor thanked his eight-year-old son and other family members from the stage, making the moment the highlight of the night. Chen (right) won the award for his role as a general in the action-thriller Painted Skin.
'[My son] was watching me on television. Before I came [to the ceremony], I asked him if I would win and he said: 'Definitely'. I was thrilled and he gave me lots of encouragement.'
Rumours that Chen had a son first surfaced in 2007, but the actor had never confirmed them. The Balzac and Little Chinese Seamstress actor is now filming Tsui Hark's new production, New Dragon Gate Inn, co-starring Jet Li and Zhou Xun, in the remake of the classic wuxia film.
