The World Bank’s latest forecast shows global growth will keep slowing into 2024, with low- and middle-income countries the hardest hit. Averting disaster and restoring growth requires helping Ukraine, debt relief, countering rising prices, fighting Covid-19 and green energy.
Delays in vaccination roll-outs in developing countries are deepening global inequality and leaving hundreds of millions of vulnerable people at risk. Countries with sufficient supplies for their most vulnerable people must release additional doses to developing nations.
While progress has been made on removing discriminatory laws, closing gender gaps, broadening women’s access to finance and stepping up efforts to prevent gender-based violence, much remains to be done.
