On Google chairman Eric Schmidt's belief that Hong Kong needs to attract more software engineers than bankers.

IT is one thing, but what about maths and physics? I was surprised moving to HK that the physics and maths section in bookstores is pretty much non-existent.
HK culture is too materialistic rather than technical knowledge-focused. Until that changes, technical people will work and be valued elsewhere
Eric Schmidt is absolutely right. His advice should be taken seriously.
in Hong Kong, technicians are simply "technicians" and are largely viewed as to serve for bigger, "more important" things, like banking and financial investments ... so, it is not just about more technical universities, but the attitude, culture and institutional system of Hong Kong.
HK does not need more technical universities, just hire more techies from the mainland.
