Chinese microscopic fossil find challenges Darwin's theory
I refer to the article "Battling Ignorance of Darwinian Theory", (November 2). I also have a passion to fight the ignorance associated with Darwin's theory but from a different perspective than Professor Zhou Zhonghe.

I also have a passion to fight the ignorance associated with Darwin's theory but from a different perspective than Professor Zhou Zhonghe. He claims to promote the "pure form" of evolution but then says that "the species of today are not necessarily better or superior to those of yesterday". This remark opposes the "survival of the fittest" concept, which is crucial to evolution. Darwin based his theory on this "struggle for existence" and it is not just a misguided by-product of Social Darwinism as Zhou insists.
Evolution is impossible without this key component. The less complex organism has no mechanism to adapt without a good reason for nature's selection. Darwin's tree of life has no common ancestor and natural selection is unable to produce higher forms from the bottom up through random mutation. Therefore, lower organisms, including primates such as monkeys, cannot evolve into human beings.
The Cambria explosion proved that most major animal phyla were fully developed in this relatively short time. This troubled Darwin because the absence of transitional forms has always been problematic for his theory. Darwin had hoped that these intermediates would appear in the fossil record but this has not happened. Evolutionists say that these "missing links" were either too small or too soft-bodied to be fossilised in the pre-Cambrian layer.
What is more troubling for Darwin's theory is the Chinese discovery of microscopic fossils of soft sponge embryos in this pre-Cambrian layer without any intermediate species. Zhou Zhonghe incorrectly states that "early Cambrian sites in China, such as Chengjiang , provided transitional species that filled missing gaps" and "all fossil records in China support Darwin's theory". One of the world's leading researchers on the Cambria explosion is Chen Junyuan from the Nanjing Institute of Palaeontology and he said that his fossil discoveries in China show that "Darwin's tree is a reverse cone shape". A senior research fellow at Chengjiang Fauna [fossil site], said, "I do not believe the animals developed gradually from the bottom up, I think they suddenly appeared".
As a medical professional and former atheist, I ignorantly believed that Darwin's evolutionary theory was a scientific fact. The fact is, Darwinism has never been more than an unproven theory and the expanding fossil record continues to prove this. Through scientific evidence alone, one can clearly see that evolution cannot produce the wonderful complexity that we see in all life and in our own bodies.
