A lot has been written about Wan Chai's nightlife establishments after the recent double murder case.

We have seen police raiding entertainment venues. During one raid, I asked an officer the reason for it. He said it was due to the murder case.

What did police hope to achieve other than making our patrons avoid the district? We are already facing a difficult business environment with the disruption caused by the pro-democracy occupation site at Admiralty.

I have been working in Wan Chai for 18 years. The problems we have are caused by what happens outside on the street not inside the entertainment venues.

You see African nationals on street corners selling illegal drugs. They approach Western male pedestrians and offer them drugs like Ice, cocaine, hashish and various tablets.

The officer I talked to told me that they had undercover operations but had not found any drugs on these people.

This is because they never carry drugs. They are merely there to find customers for drug gangs who pay them a commission for every customer they bring in.
